Please join the IES Detroit Section for a tour of the historic Detroit Opera House, and hear from the theatrical lighting and production professionals that make the magic happen. The tour will include backstage areas not accessible to the public, and we will get a chance to talk with Dan Brinker, Technical Director; Heather DeFauw, Assistant Lighting Designer/Assistant Technical Director; and Kevin Neuman, Assistant Technical Director.

We will meet in Detroit Opera House parking lot lobby. Glass doors to the lobby will be open, and the lobby also includes a timeline display and showcase that highlights the history. After the tour, we will have dinner and drinks at Vicente’s Cuban Cuisine, a four-minute walk from the Opera House.

There is a Tiger’s game that evening, so please plan accordingly to make it on time for the tour. Parking is FREE at the Detroit Opera House surface lot. Enter the gated lot from John R Street, and tell the attendant you are there for a tour. We can leave our vehicles there while we dine at Vicente’s.

Ticket sales end at noon on Friday, May 10th! Tickets are limited so please register early, NO exceptions!
