Meeting the Metrics – Lighting and Today’s Building Certification Programs

Sustainable building certifications are not a fad; they are a must for today’s commercial construction projects. The widespread pursuit of these certifications has not only improved the built environment, but it has also spawned creation of new certifications that go beyond energy code to address health and wellbeing. As we compare certifications, one thing becomes clear, they are similarly based on the same set of standards and codes. While each offers a unique twist, and thus, varying degrees of difficulty to achieve. This presentation will address the use of lighting to Meet the Metrics of three of the most popular certifications, LEED, the WELL Building Standard, and The Living Building Challenge.
